Presenting: Aidan James Beck!!!

Here he is in all his sleepy glory on his way home from the hospital!!! Jamie, here to give you all the gory details. No not really, ask Meg if you really want the dirt, and if you ask me, you probably don't want it. Regardless, I figured that I would give you the quick story of what happened yesterday. After waking up with some mild contractions Meg thought that a walk was in order as she didn't want the contractions to stop. By about 1 pm we called the midwife who came to our house, pronounced Meg to be 2cm, and told her to get some rest if she could, she would probably see us in the evening. Well, 2 painful hours and 6 more cm later, we called her back, and she came, was shocked, and sent us to the hospital. We got there around 4, Meg's water broke by 5, and by 7 pm we had a screaming baby boy with a squished face and a funny looking conehead! Meg was amazing, going the whole way with nothing, I repeat nothing to help.... no drugs, not even the gas..........Kind of helpless to sit there watching your wife trying to do something that seems scientifically impossible, with nothing to do but say things like " You're doing great..... almost there........" Small comfort and gigantic understatements.... but what can you do?
We decided to stay the night in the hospital, and Aidan even slept for 5 hours straight! In the morning, we (meaning "they" as "we" always does when the husband is describing things like this) got examined again to see how the recovery was coming, and then it was bathtime. We soon found out that we don't have a future nudist, Aidan hates being in any state of semi-dress and looks like his world is collapsing upon the removal of any clothing. I found this funny, so I took this picture of him protesting during his bath. What a sadist I am, poor little guy.
Anyways, to sum it all up, Meg was a machine (although trying to recover from what can only be described as the equivalent of peeing out a giant zuchini), Aidan's great, and I'm fine, although I really couldn't do much....... Can't wait for life with the little guy. Thanks for all of your prayers, they really did help!

Congratulations you guys! Jamie, it was great to hear it from your point of view; I can tell from your description that you are so proud of Megan ( and she deserves it!). It is so great to have Grandparents and Aunts and Uncles around - take advantage of them! Get them to do your laundry and cook your dinner, while you just rest and get to know your little guy!

Well done Meg!
You really are a machine. I'm so proud of you. We do want to come by soon, but I am so hypersensitive to the fact that you just had a baby and I don't want to burden you.
Let us know when would be good for you.
Thanks

He's beautiful, Megan. Enjoy his smallness and roundness, his coos and ahhs. He will grow into a little boy so fast. So have fun with the baby. Wish I could see him. Many congratulations!
