Sometimes it seems like I post the same pictures over and over but I promise that is not the case. And unfortunately Aidan always has a bib on because of the amount of drool he produces by the minute. If he didn't wear a bib we would be going through so many shirts during the day. I figure it is easier to go through bibs than it is shirts.
So, what's new???? Nothing really. We have started feeding Aidan regular food (baby food) on a consistant basis. He seems to like whatever we give him. He has yet to turn his nose up to something that we give him. Now that I have started the baby food on a regular basis I am trying to give him larger portions of the food. For awhile it was just enough for a taste but now I think he could start having more. I must say that this baby food thing has been quite a frustration. I wish that babies came with a food manual when they are born. That way when it is time to begin regular food you are prepared and know exactly what you are to do. Like how much are you suppose to give your child at a feeding??? Do you cut back on the amount of formula now that they eat more food??? So for those of you who ready my blog and have kids or know something of this subject I would love to hear your imput or how you do things to get a better understanding of what I should be doing.

This week has been a good one. We met up with a friend for coffee yesterday at Starbucks and Aidan did rather well. He enjoys being in the company of other people because he smiles at them and receives lots of attention. But he was very content and willing to sit and play with toys while my friend and I talked. It was quite nice.
Aidan has been a bit all over the place with his naps. I wonder if he is beginning to cut another tooth. I am not sure though because when I take a feel in his mouth I am not sure if what I feel is a tooth or not but he sure is biting on everything he can get his hands on. As you can tell from the picture. Who knows??? I suppose we'll keep an eye on it and just wait.....

Hi Megan,
Thanks for stopping by my blog. I've read your blog for a while - don't remember exactly who's links i followed to get to you though!
I had the same questions when we first started Taeya on solids. I just started her on small amounts, and i basically fed her until she wouldn't eat any more, and that small amount eventually started to increase. Now we're basically at a set amount, 3 meals a day. but it took a while to get to that point. I'm still breastfeeding, so I don't know how much her consumption decreased, but i'm sure it did quite a bit. I read in the Baby Whisperer that for every ounce of food you feed your baby, you are to decrease an ounce from their bottle.
I know I felt really confused about how to start solids, but we kind of muddled our way through the beginning, and it seemed to work! Now we're moving on to introducing finger foods and chunkier solids - another learning process! I think once Taeya's tooth pokes through (in a day or so), hopefully she can start to learn to chew her food instead of mush it :)
good luck!
Megan, usually when babies start to take baby food they are close to the top end of their formula consumption, i.e. an 8 oz bottle at a time, three or four times a day. As they continue to grow they need more calories, and these are given in food. So the food is given in addition to the formula, not instead of, that is unless they are consuming greater than 32 oz of formula each day. When Aidan is full he will stop eating. You can keep track of his height and age to weight and determine if he is getting too many calories. Love, Papa.......................
