We were able to head into Vancouver (one of our favorite places to go) on Saturday however; the evening was cut short when I got a migraine during dinner and it put me out of commission. I was so disappointed because we were at Las Margaritas and I had only got to eat one of my fajitas before I thought I was going to pass out. So, we headed home and we picked up the kids brought them home, put them to bed and then we rented a movie. It wasn't the ideal "date night" but it worked.
On Saturday (before we left for Vancouver) we met Dave and Doris and a bike shop in town. They wanted to buy Aidan a bike for his third birthday. His bday isn't until August 24th but we figured he needed it early so that he could get some good use out of it in the summertime. He was so excited. It was truly like watching a kid in a candy store. He was enthralled with the bikes and the helmets.
He loved his helmet so much that he didn't even want to take it off. However, we have found that he sweats like crazy so when you do take the helmet off his head/hair is soaking wet.
Jamie and I can't believe that our little boy is big enough to ride a bike. He has gotten so big and can do so much more now but in our minds he is still our little boy. He absolutely loves riding his bike. He does get stuck still a bit when he is peddling and has to push harder on the peddles but when he gets going he does pretty good.
Jamie and I are thinking it might be fun to start doing bike rides with the boys. His parents have a couple of bikes in their basement that they have said we could have and use. They would need to be serviced but it would be cheaper than buying a new/used bike. We would just have to find a trailer to cart Jaxon around in.
Watching him ride his bike brought back lots of memories for me of riding bikes when I was little. I remember sitting in the chair thingy on the back of my parents bike as we biked around town. I remember when I got my own bike we would set off after dinner to head to Dairy Queen. For the first little while I was too little to make it all the way there and we would turn around and then get into the car and still get an ice cream treat but I remember when I finally made it to DQ. I was so excited. It is kind of crazy that I now have the opportunity to create fun memories for Aidan and Jaxon. I think we will have some fun times ahead.
We will be heading to Michigan next week. We are all getting excited for the time with my family. Almost everyday Aidan talks about going on an airplane to visit Nana and Papa. We will be going up to my parents sailboat and spending time on Lake Michigan. I think that is one of my favorite places about home. It is always so pretty up there.
