Easter Weekend

I was looking forward to Easter weekend for a number of reasons this year. One reason in particular was that the boys were going to get Easter baskets and have an Easter Egg Hunt for the first time. A couple of months ago my mom and I were talking on the phone and she told me that she and my dad had found some Easter baskets that they thought would be perfect for the boys. I received them in the mail a couple of weeks ago. They were perfect. If anyone truly knows our boys you will know that sports and balls are all consuming for them. So to have ball Easter baskets was very fitting.Monday evening I went out and bought some goodies for their baskets. My mom and dad and sent a few items but then we filled them with the major items. It was so fun to pick out the chocolate bunnies and little treats....It definitely got me in the mood to start the little traditions that hopefully my boys will look forward to and remember when they are older.
I so remember getting Easter baskets when I was young and it was so fun. There were always yummy chocolates and then a small gift of sorts. Nothing very big but nonetheless very special to me.
After I filled their baskets in the morning and hid them (not really) and told them to go find them. Aidan found his with no problem and quickly realized he had a chocolate bunny! Jaxon needed a bit more help to find his basket....

They were so excited to find out what all was in their baskets...I think that is why we ended up sitting on the floor in our kitchen...not exactly where I would have chosen to sit but that is where they ended up.

It was a very special moment to watch their faces as they took out all of their treats. Their faces definitely showed their excitement! Pretty quick after realizing that he had a chocolate bunny Aidan remembered that he needed to phone Nana and Papa to tell them. Nana had told Aidan earlier in the week that if he found a chocolate bunny on the weekend that he needed to phone her and let her know. The best part of the phone call (for me) was that Aidan told Nana and Papa "thank you" for the gifts unprompted by me! It was absolutely priceless. This is progress for us....we have been talking to Aidan a lot about the importance of manner. Sometimes he does it really good and then other times not so good. It is also something that I have been praying about for him and so when I see little steps of progress I am truly thankful!

While we were on the phone with my parents Jamie went outside and hid the Easter Eggs. For a little bit Saturday morning it was sunny and not too windy so we decided this would be the best time to do the Easter Egg Hunt. We were going to video the whole thing with our new video camera we got at Christmas but when we went to turn it on it said the battery was dead. Apparently, we are not too educated on the fact that when you want to use it you have to plan ahead and make sure that the battery is completely charged....we had charged it at Christmas time and had not used it too much so we figured it was fine. Good learning curve, I suppose. We took some video on our camera along with some pictures. I am trying to download one of the videos but it is being difficult.

The boys had so much fun looking for the eggs. Aidan was very good to leave ones that Jaxon was finding instead of running in and taking them from him. Aidan kept running around say, "I found another one"

Jaxon was having so much fun running around the backyard I don't think he cared too much for the Easter Eggs but once he found some he was so excited....

Aidan showing his lute. When we started the hunt I asked Jamie if he counted the eggs as he hid them in case we missed any. Of course, he didn't count them so we had no idea how many we had but Jamie remembered where he hid them all and we were able to do a second/third sweep to make sure that we got them all.

Jaxon didn't do so bad in finding lots of the eggs.
When we found all of the eggs Jamie kept taking eggs out of Jaxon's basket and throwing them into the yard so that there were still eggs to find. He was trying to help Jaxon find more but Jax was not catching on. Aidan however, caught on and would come flying in and snatched the up. I kept thinking that it would be so fun to do an Easter Egg hunt with all of the cousins.....it would be so fun to spend the holiday together.....

When we came inside the boys sat at the table and opened each egg to find candy inside. Jaxon could have sat at the table forever. He just kept opening and shutting the eggs. They wanted us to hide the eggs again and do it all over again.
We had a good weekend. It was very busy for us. We had wonderful friends who invited us to their family gatherings as we did not have family here for the holiday. The boys were spoiled greatly by the treats they received. I was on worship team this weekend which always adds another dimension to the weekend...it was a wonderful time for me to reflect on the wonderful gift that we were given by the death and resurrection. Worship team always takes a lot out of me and I pay for Sunday evening but it is so worth it!
I am going to try to attach the video.....so stay tuned.....
