Well, it has been a week and a half since little Aidan was born. I am not quite sure if feels like a long time or a short amount of time. Life sure becomes drastically different when there is a little one in the picture. However, with all the change it just seems perfect to have him apart of our family now. Aidan is such a content little guy. When he has a clean diaper and has been fed he is rather happy and content. Jamie and I are thrilled. He can however, go from peaceful to all out screaming with no breath in no time flat. Normally when that happens we figure that he is hungry or needs a diaper change. When my family was up here this past week; my dad was able to take some priceless pictures of Aidan. Here are only a few that I would say are my favorites....
This was one of his first baths at home. He really likes his baths when he can be wrapped up and bathed a little bit at a time. He is definitely not a fan of the entire body naked and emerged in water.
With going with the midwives for my pregnancy, labor and delivery after the birth they make a week of home visits. It is so nice having them come to your home especially in the first couple of days when you are still trying to recover and get the hang of everything. I am so grateful for the miwives and the knowledge that they have given me. Here Jane is weighing Aiden in a sling. It kind of looks like she just caught a fish from the Fraser River. Thankfully he has begun to gain his weight back. He was born at 8lbs 14 oz; then on the weekend after he was born (Sunday) he was weighed at 8lbs and 1/2 oz. He had dropped considerably but was able to gain it back to where he is now 8lbs 9oz. I was so glad to see those numbers when he was weighed.
It was great having my family here for the week after Aidan was born. They were so helpful and they loved being able to spend time with their first grandchild. My dad is quite the baby person and so he took every opportunity he could to hold him and enjoy the moments he had. Aidan seemed to really like when Papa held him.
Now, Jamie and I are adjusting to life as a the three of us. Jamie heads off to school tomorrow and so begins the life of a mom. It will be interested to say the least going from a full house to just being Aidan and myself. Thankfully it will be a good time for us to begin a good routine and settle in to life. I am also so grateful for the help that i know I will have when I need it of family and friends so that helps put my mind at rest.
There are some things you could pray for Aidan, Jamie and I.
Aidan and I are working on breastfeeding without a shield. In the first night he tore me to shreads and I have been trying to get them on the mend.... there are also other issues but I won't get explicit. Please pray that we are able to get it and that his feeding times will be good and I won't hurt.
As Jamie heads back to work he will have to adjust to the lack of sleep. Jamie enjoys his sleep and sometimes when he is lacking it is a struggle for him to operate to his fullest potential. Pray that he would be able to adjust
Pray for my hormones. Having a baby and then beginning to life of a mom has definitely taken a toll and I cry much easier now. I know crying isn't a bad thing but I am not one to enjoy crying if I don't see a need for it. Right now I suppose lack of sleep warrants some tears but there's a lot to be said of the emotions that a new mom has. I am just trying to figure them all out.
Sleep for me...
For those of you who I haven't gotten in touch with lately, it is not for the fact that I don't want to talk with you. I am trying to get moments when I can. Thanks for your messages and encouragement.

Awesome pictures and posts Megs!! and know that we are praying for the three of you as you adjust to life with a newborn in the house! I remember well the tears that never seemed to end, but eventually they get less and less and one day you realize that you are enjoying motherhood and your little man!! And know that we are always just a phone call away.
So fun to see Jane's picture on here - she's the one who "caught" Malcolm. And Megan, between the three kids, I think I've had every breastfeeding "issue" imaginable...but it's been so worth it to persevere. I'll pray that you get things sorted out very soon so you can enjoy that bonding time with Aiden.
Megan, I know those first days/weeks can be overwhelming...oh and the soreness from bf-ing they get better, I promise! =) Congrats again, he's too cute!
Hey Megs, Good to hear that Aidan is gaining weight back! We will keep you all in our prayers, remember if you need a break we are just up the hill!
Love you guys
Hi Megan, It was so fun seeing the pictures of you all and little Aiden. How precious! You look great and sounds like your attitude is sweet. These days may seem long and trying, but as you take them one day at a time, asking God for renewed strength and deep sleep, before you know it your having a blast with the greatest gift you could ever have....a beautiful little son! Be blessed! Love,Donna Cappon

Megan and Jamie,
I just had an opportunity to visit your blog, as I now have it on my computer at work. The pictures look familiar. What a delight. I now have them framed in my office for everyone to see. They all agree that he's a sweety. I am praying for all three of you every day. Its a new and at times difficult adjustment. You will do well - you are doing well. I only wish I could reach out and give you a hug. Love always, Dad/Papa...
