Well, our little one is now 6 weeks old and yesterday he had is last midwife check-up before being passed of to our doctor. The midwives here continue to see their babies up to 6 weeks and then refer them to the doctor that the parents have chosen. The nice thing in our situation is that Aidan and I's doctor is right in the same office so he already knows us a bit.
Here are Aidan's new stats for now: he weighs 11lbs 5 oz. ; his head has grown 3 cm since birth; and he is 60 cm long when at birth he was 50.5 cm. He growing like a weed and he is definitely going to be a tall one. Jane (the midwife) was thrilled with his progress and of course so were we.
I decided that Jamie and I need to begin taking more pictures of Aidan with us because I don't want to look back at baby pictures of him and realize that we didn't take any of us with him. I love this one because it looks like he is hugging me. Well, I suppose he really is; his arms are just not long enough to get all the way around me:)
I took this picture because this is one of Aidan's favorite positions. He loves to be up on your shoulder and looking around. So, whenever you are behind the person that is holding him you get to see he beautiful baby blues peeking at you.
They say that at 6 weeks babies begin to become more responsive and engaged with their surroundings. It has been so fun to watch that unfold this week. Aidan has begun to smile at Jamie and I both. He has become more vocal with noises. Its almost like he is trying to tell us a story. It has been so great. Monday was a great day for Jamie. When he came home Aidan was on the floor and Jamie came over to say hello to him and as soon as Aidan heard his voice and saw him he gave him the biggest smile. Jamie couldn't believe it. He was thrilled. He kept saying "he smiled at me!" I think that was a pivotal moment for Jamie because he was able to see that his little guy was becoming more engaged instead of just being a baby that eats, sleeps, and poops. Aidan has also made great strides in sleeping at night. No, he is not sleeping through night but he sure is sleeping longer. The last several nights he has been sleeping 5 hours at the beginning and then another four after the first feeding. It has been awesome. I hope that we are able to keep this trend going. But for now I am enjoying every moment of those 5 hours of sleep because I never know when it is going to be my last 5 hour stent.

Those are awesome pics Meg. I was just thinking of you today and wanted to call to say hello and see how you were doing. It's great that you posted today. I hope that you are well and that I can come by and see you all again soon. I know that Mom would love it too :o).
So cute! I can't believe how much he has grown already, happy 6 weeks, Aidan. Our neighbors little one, born on Sataurday, was only 6lbs.13oz and 18 inches long, so compared to Aidan, Aidan's a giant. That is great that he smiled to greet Jamie, I am sure that it brings such joy to your heart.
Awesome pictures Megan! The one of you and Aidan is priceless!
I love reading your posts because I find out things that I didn't know...like that he smiled at Jamie! Yeah!! That first real smile that I saw him give you last Friday literally lit up his entire face so I can only imagine how excited Jamie was when he realized that he was smiling at him!Babies are so much fun...each new thing is a celebration!
Megan & Jamie,
What a delight. He has such bright and expressive eyes. These are such great times to enjoy and remember. Thats quite a growth spurt. (9.5 cm is almost 4 in.)It was special to hear him over the phone today, even if it was a loud burp. Go Aidan! Thanks for sharing these pictures so we can keep up with how he is doing.
Love, Papa.....................
Nice pics guys, I'm envious of your photographic abilities!!
