Change

As you can see there has been some change that has happened in our house. This past weekend we spend Saturday morning taking apart Aidan's old bed and putting up this bunk bed for the boys. We had received some money for Christmas this year and decided to put it towards getting the boys a bunk bed. We found this one at Costco. It is perfect for the boys and it goes so well with the room colors that were already there.
We had been talking with Jaxon for weeks about him starting to sleep in a "big boy" bed. He was so excited and I think the best part was that he was going to be in the same room as his brother. We were trying to decide if we should keep him in his own room while he adjusted to sleeping in a bed or if we should just do it all at the same time. After watching his face while we were putting the beds together made it clear that we were going to just start him in the bunk bed. I think if we have not let him sleep in it would have been quite devastating for the little one.

He has done remarkably well with it. For naptime I have chosen to separate them and put Aidan in our bed so that they actually sleep. By the time that bedtime hits they are usually tired enough that they just go to sleep. The last couple of nights Jaxon has been getting out of bed. He comes running out to the living room all smiles. We have only had to discipline him a couple of times and he is learning not to get out of his bed.

When we moved Aidan to a big boy bed before Jaxon was born it was quite the fight. He would get out of bed constantly and scream and cry at the door until he fell asleep in front of the door. It took him about a week to learn to stay in bed. Aidan has always been very good and staying in bed even when he isn't sleeping. We always told him we would come and get him when he could get out of bed and he has listened. Jaxon seems to be more laid back about the whole process but I definitely think it is easier when you have your brother in the room with you.

The other change that has been happening is that my baby, Jaxon, his growing up. I was out in the garage going through all of Aidan's clothes (that he doesn't wear anymore) and realized that I only have two more boxes of clothes to go through for Jaxon before he we out of hand-me-downs. One of the the things that I found in one of the boxes was a zip-up hoodie that Aidan had gotten for his 2nd bday from his Auntie Heather and Unkie Matt. It was the cutest thing and I loved it so much. I was so excited for Jaxon to wear it.
Here is Aidan wearing it in September 2008 after his 2nd bday.
Isn't he so cute! I forget sometimes how cute he was.....not that he isn't cute now...but it is a different kind of cute.

And here is Jaxon wearing it 3 months before he turns 2! Craziness! After taking this picture I realize the boy NEEDS a haircut! Keeping it long is not a good option. They are similar is so many ways....yet so different too. Both of them have their dad's beautiful BLUE eyes and once blonde hair. Aidan's hair is thick; Jaxon's is not or at least not yet. They both are stubborn, love playing sports, etc.
OH, how I love my boys!

Speaking of love......and sports....
Jamie's dad and sister, Heather, went to a Canuck's game last week and when they were there they went to the Canuck store. Everything in the store was on sale to get rid of stuff for the Olympics. Pa decided that all of his grandsons needed to have a Canuck's jersey. Aidan in true boy fashion was not too impressed with getting clothes for a gift but once Jamie put on his hockey jersey and Aidan realized what it was he was super excited and immediately wanted to play hockey.
Jaxon's is a bit big right now but he will grow into it! He loves wearing it though even if it looks like a dress on him!
The love of sports is very evident in this house....if you can't tell:)
I can't believe how FAST my boys are growing up. I have always loved the transitions that come for each boy. Crib to bed; bottles to real food; diapers to underwear; stroller to bike; home to school; etc. They are so fun to go through with them and to see the excitement and joy on their faces. It truly is a special gift to experience these changes and I wouldn't have it any other way. I am truly thankful for the two boys God has given to Jamie and I.

Oh dear. The contagious canucks. My boys have been bitten by that bug too. Sigh. Even baby girl has a pink jersey. What has this world come to?
