Jamie and I have decided that our boys are getting big. We knew it would happen (and will continue) however we were reminded of it again when we were at the park a couple of weeks ago. It was a beautiful Friday and Aidan had asked if we could go to the park. We decided to wait for Jamie to get home from school and then we took off. Aidan has always loved the swings but he is now way too big to go in the baby swings. It was fun pushing him on the big swings and watching him get the hang of sitting and holding on. We are still working on the pumping motion but that will come.

When we got there Aidan took off climbing on everything. Of course, Jaxon wanted to follow his brother but he was able to do some of it on his own. Jaxon has started telling us "self" when he wants to do things on his own. It is quite nice that he has come up with a word to communicate to us what he wants. The things that he wants to do himself are:
eating
climbing into the car
going up and down the stairs
climbing into his bed for nap and bedtime

After Jamie went back to school after Spring Break I decided to work seriously with Jaxon on potty training. The first Monday we went through 8-9 pairs of underwear in over 1 hour! Because he had peed in every pair of underwear I had for him at the time he had to go back in a diaper. So, Monday was a bit of a right off. I decided that Jaxon need to go commando while at home because when he would start to pee he would then stop and I could get him to the bathroom in time to finish whereas if he had underwear on then he would just pee. By the end of the weekend he was going longer in between potty breaks. Sunday he even kept himself dry during church and then during his afternoon nap. This past weekend and the start of this week I have been letting him go longer so that he gets the sensation of when he needs to pee and he has actually told me 2-3 times today that he needs to go potty! This is definitely progress in my book.

The weather has been nice the last little while so I have been able to keep up with my running. My goal is to be able to run 10km in just under an hour for the Sun Run that is on Mother's Day this year. I have had to take the boys in the stroller several times in the last couple of weeks. I can tell such a huge difference in how I feel and my knees when I run with the boys. I can usually go about 6km with the boys before I start to feel it more in my knees. I think my pace is about the same but I definitely like running without them when I can.

This weekend we are hoping to start working on the landscaping in our yard. We want to take out the entire front bed and re-shape it and put smaller bushes and plants in. We also want to create some new beds for the backyard. There is no landscaping in the backyard right now so it is a blank slate which is kind of nice. We get to do whatever we want. The only problem is trying to figure out what to do. I really hope the weather is nice enough so that we can do it. Right now the forecast is not great so we will have to see if we can do anything.
We will start some new traditions in our house this weekend for Easter. We will have our first Easter Egg Hunt and the boys will get their own Easter Egg baskets. I am looking forward to this as the boys are older and can comprehend more of is going on This also provides opportunity for us to talk about the real reason for Easter and that has been fun talking to Aidan about this past week and week coming. Hopefully I will have pictures for an Easter post for next weekend.
