A couple of weeks ago I saw an event for "A Day out with Thomas" It was being held in Squamish. I knew that the boys would absolutely love it. Jamie and I talked about it and we decided that we would do this with the boys. The best day for us was Sunday. I had to pick up strawberries from the Abbotsford Rotary at 10am on Sunday. After we picked them up and put them into freezer bags we headed out. The weather didn't look great when we left and we hit some rain before Langley but once we went over the bridge the sun came out and it was a beautiful drive out to Squamish. When we arrived we were told that Thomas had broken down in the morning and they were running behind with the train rides. The only availability was for the 4:30pm train ride that had been pushed back to at least 5:30pm! We arrived just after noon so we knew that if we waited that long we would be pushing it with the boys. Especially since Jaxon was not going to get a nap. We decided to just hang out and see the other things that they had going on and ride the smaller trains that were there. We told Aidan that we would not be able to ride Thomas but that there were other little trains that we would get to ride. He was so good about it.
When I went to take this picture of the boys Aidan was not happy to have his picture taken at all and of course all he wanted to do was look at Thomas. So this is the best I got.
This is our attempt of a self-portrait on the little train ride. They were small little trains that you got to sit on and it would take you around the grounds. The boys thought they were so great. Aidan talked about the ride for quite awhile after the fact. Jaxon was pretty quiet during the ride because he was pretty tired but he loved it.
There was an imagination station section for Thomas and they had music, crafts, face painting and a magic show. We stayed for the magic show and Aidan loved it. It has been fun watching him follow things and then laugh out loud when he finds things that are funny. He was completely laughing when the magician was funny. It was hilarious. Last night he was telling my parents about the magic show and he remembered lots of things about it. He obviously was paying close attention to what he was doing.
When we left we saw signs for a windsurfing area so we decided to go check it out. The signs took us down this gravel road that eventually spit us out on this peninsula. There were 30-40 kite surfers. It was so cool. We decided to park the car and walk out farther out to watch them. Jaxon had fallen asleep but we just picked him up and carried him. He woke up pretty quick and enjoyed watching the guys/girls doing flips and flying threw the air.
It is so hard to capture all the kits in the air so I didn't really try. However, this kite was getting ready to out. They harness the kite to their bodies so that if they fall they don't lose their kite. Aidan's best description was guys skateboarding on the water with kites. It is exactly what they looked like. It truly was a perfect ending to a great day. The car ride there and back was beautiful, the boys were grateful for the special day and we were able to make a fun memory. I truly couldn't have asked for a better day.

Great photos Meg!
It sounds like you were all able to have such a great attitude, even though Thomas was broken. What a special day made of special memories.
Glad you had such a nice day for it.
THanks for sharing the pictures Meg. It was fun hearing the boys talk about their special day. It's too bad they couldn't ride Thomas, but sounds like they had a great attitude. WE look forward to seeing you in just s few weeks.
