Spring Break Beck Style

For many this Spring Break a warm and/or exotic destination was in store, however; for the Beck's the same old scenery was the plan. We had no plans....nothing was on the calendar but in the end....we had lots of fun.

Here is our lounge position / laid back not in the sand or near a beach but on the playground watching the boys enjoy being outside, in the sun and playing. I figured since this was our vacation we needed it to be well documented.
The first week of Spring break there was lots of bball watching. The high school basketball BC's was taking place in Langley. One afternoon/evening Jamie went with his dad and then we as a family went another evening and then Jamie and I went to the finals. The boys enjoyed the bball watching in the new Langley Event Center.
Of course, during these weeks off for the boys, I still had to work. Jamie was very helpful in taking over my role so I could work.

This second week we planned on a couple of more outings. We took the boys to an indoor play place called, Captain Kid. This was the second time the boys had been and they did awesome. I asked Aidan if he would make sure to help Jaxon if needed to to watch out for him. He did such a great job. There were several times when we saw that Aidan would wait for Jax or would come and help him. Towards the end Jaxon got the hang of climbing about and was keeping up with Aidan.

We laughed so hard watching their faces when they came down these slides. Jaxon was able to keep himself from going too fast but when he would go over the middle hump of the slide he would have a look of fear but at the end he was smiling and ready to go again.

Both boys are fairly cautious but it was quite funny to see how cautious and careful they really are. It definitely was a fun afternoon and the boys wore themselves right out. Lots of fun and we will definitely go again.

We have had some beautiful weather this week. The sunshine was so inviting that all of Abbotsford seemed to be at the park. It was time to take out the scooters and bike. Aidan's bike is too small for his now so it is being passed down to Jaxon. Jaxon was all excited to learn how to ride the bike. However, when he got on the bike it did not come easy to the boy. I promise, we tried hard to help him but for some reason he has not figured out the motion and use of his feet/legs. I think I was expecting that he would pick it up pretty quick and when he didn't it was just a simple reminder that he is not his brother. I know he will pick it up pretty quick...when he is ready.

After trying out the bike for all of 5 -10 minutes Jaxon really wanted his scooter. The boys got their scooters from my parents last year for their birthday. They both have figured out the scooter motion and can go on their own now. Aidan faster than Jaxon (by far) but they can both do it now. We had a good time at the park. We scootered over to the pirate park and spent a good amount of time on the swings.

It's hard to believe that we are at this stage of life now. Two boys that aren't babies anymore. No need for a stroller, doing things on their own while we stand and watch or run after. It is such a fun stage to be at. They are learning new and fun things everyday and so are we. There truly is never a dull moment at our house.

Aidan is growing into such a sweet boy. He has a tender heart/spirit that feels the need to watch over, protect and help his little brother. It was quite priceless to watch Aidan push Jax on the swings. They both had lots of fun.

So, this was our Spring Break. Was it exotic? No. Was it perfect? Yes. When I take the time to look through the weeks worth of pictures I am reminded that it was just what we needed. We were together, we had fun and that is all that matters.

Love the documentation Megs! And it's true ... they certainly aren't babies anymore. I was thinking that seeing the picture of you two relaxing at the park :)
