The First of Summer

The first week of summer has been full of lots of fun. We experienced the Canada Day parade for the first time in our town. There were tons of floats. We actually didn`t last till the end...but we enjoyed what we saw.
We sat in the grand stands so we were a small ways off the curb so the boys missed out on the candy but they didn`t seem to notice. I was kind of shocked that they didn`t notice.. Aidan was focused on getting cotton candy. Unfortunately, the cotton candy vendors never came near where we were.
After lunch we went to Rotary Stadium where the festivities continued with lots of games, food and music. We stood in line for the kids to play some games and found the cotton candy. The boys had a full day and we all had a fun time.
Isn`t he so cute?
One of the games that Aidan really wanted to do was mini golf or at least that is what we thought it was. It didn`t turn out to be mini golf but a mini golf lesson. It was so great. Aidan loved it. He was taught (along with Jamie) how to hold the club, how to swing the club and then got to practice.

Oh, the cotton candy...I think that was the best part for this boy. I don't think they had had it before...so that made it even better.
Jax didn't really know what to do with the stuff and he didn't really like it when it was stuff on his fingers but he didn't like the taste.

Last week was a busy one without daddy. Jamie hs been working on his Master's and had to go into class this past first week in July. We had the evenings with daddy but the days were long. I decided to walk with the boys to the park because I thought they would like the water park....this is what they did first. Played in the dirt! Seriously.

I finally told them that if they didn't go play we were going back home. So, instead of the water park they played at the regular playground. I had brought their lunch and so they played and had lunch before we walked home.

Once they got into playing they had fun...but it definitely took some gentle nudging on my part. Even though when I suggested it at home they were so excited to go.
We spent a lot of time in the backyard playing as well. Thankfully, we had warm sunny weather. Where there is warm weather there is a fun sprinkler. Aidan totally loved it and Jaxon took some time warming up to it. He didn't like to get all wet but he liked to play in it a bit.

Who knew that boys would like to take the sprinkler and water the plants...but it works! And it takes a job off my list! They can water my plants with a sprinkler anytime!
This was the perfect game for the boys. Aidan got to get wet and play on the trampoline and Jaxon got to play with the water but not get wet! It was perfect. Both boys won! It was perfect.
It was a hard week having Jamie gone and so focused on school but the program is almost over. It has been a crazy last 18 months with Jamie back in school but we only have 3 more days left at the end of July and we are DONE! Woohooo!
