Croup, Colds and Cookies

Man, I feel like our family has been sick for sooo long. It seems to be this vicious cycle we are in. On Sunday night around midnight Aidan woke up with the most horrible croup cough I had ever heard. He was struggling to breathe and since we had never really experienced croup like this Jamie took him to the ER. Thankfully there was not a lot of people in the ER on Sunday night and so they didn't have to wait too long and they were home in a couple of hours.
Now that the croup cough is over and done with both of the boys have colds. Cough and runny noses. It always seems to happen around Christmas time as I am trying to get the family healthy before we fly to Michigan. It is never fun to fly when you are congested. So, if you think of our family please keep us in your prayers as well try to get everyone healthy before we fly.
The nice thing with our boys is that when they are sick they still act like they are fine. They are happy and still play and don't need to be held and cuddled all the time. The tire quicker but for the most part the play the same and act the same as when they are healthy.

Jaxon has started sitting up all on his own in the last couple of weeks. It is a great thing to be able to sit him down on the floor and be able to walk away and not worry if he is going to fall over. Oh yes, we have had our spills where he falls straight back but for the most part he is good to go. It is always a good thing that he sits up on his own so when we are out at one of Jamie's bball games and Aidan informs me that he has to go potty and I have to take both of them and we all fit into one very small stall and Jaxon sits between my feet while I get Aidan on the potty. Yes, this did happen. I have realized that doing everyday things with two boys attached to me I have to be creative and innovative to get some things done.

Tuesday night I decided that since it was going to snow on Wednesday that I was going to do Christmas baking. Wednesday the snow came and the power went out in our house for most of the morning. So, I got a late start on my baking. I have always wanted to do Christmas baking but I have never had the time and so this year I decided I didn't care if I didn't have the time but I was going to make Christmas cookies.

I decided that one of the kinds of cookies that I was going to make was the peanut butter cookies with Hershey kisses in the middle. I decided that I would try to get Aidan involved as much as possible. He was so excited. I wasn't sure if he was going to be able to unwrap the Hershey kisses but he was able to do it. Especially when he realized what he was unwrapping. I am sure he ate about 5 kisses while he was unwrapping them. He did a great job and loved being involved.

Here was the fist kiss he unwrapped on his own. He was so thrilled when he did it.

The finished product......I think he likes it....what do you think?

This weekend begins the Christmas festivities we have until we leave for Michigan to spend Christmas with my family. Starting Friday we have something every day until we leave on the 25th. Let the fun begin!

Wow Aidan what a great job helping Mommy with cookies! Looks like you had lots of fun.
What a big boy Jaxon is getting to be! How fast they change and grow. Can't wait to see you all.
Hope amidst all the busyness you can enjoy the season. Love Mom
