Great Wolf Lodge

We just got back from a mini vacation to The Great Wolf Lodge. We are definitely fans of the place. It was so nice to get away for a couple of days and pretend that we were away from this rainy weather and enjoying the heat. The water park was perfect for our imaginations. I think every time we walked in I took myself to Mexico. The weather outside was horrible but we never really thought about it since all the fun was inside and it was warm. It was so fun to get away just the four of us. It truly felt like a vacation but I am realizing that with kids you don't come back from vacation rested. Vacation are not meant to be restful and relaxing with kids. Those times will come again but for now our time is spent making memories.

Jaxon was just a bit too short to go on the tube waterslides and thankfully that did not stop him from having fun. It didn't really seem to bother him. We know the next time we take them he will be tall enough and it will be a complete different level of family fun. He had his own fun and it was fun to watch him looking for Daddy and Aidan when they would come shooting out of the waterslide.

Aidan has become alot more confident in the water and that made it so fun to go watch him on the waterslides or see him try to walk along the lily pads. It was fun to watch him figure them out and by the third time he did it he could do it without any help from dad. He was so proud of himself.

The kiddie area was a favorite for Jaxon. It was shallow water and things for him to play on. He was in his own little world. His imagination has really taken off and at times Jamie and I weren't even sure where or what he was doing but he sure was having fun.

Oh how I love this face, as he is intent on shooting something......and only his little mind knows.

Along with the water park the hotel has a Magic Quest scavenger hunt that spreads throughout 5 floors of the hotel. You have to buy a wand but once you have the wand there are several adventures and quests you can do. There are riddles that take you all over finding crystals, chests of gold, pictures, talking trees and dragons. We weren't sure if the boys would really grab hold of the concept but once they knew that on one of the quests they had to defeat a dragon they were hooked. We walked all over the hotel pointing our wand at things and having things talk to us to give us more clues.

Here they are trying to defeat the fire breathing dragon. They were killed several times before they finally prevailed and defeated the dragon. Jamie and Aidan were elated that they finally beat him. It took alot of tries, but they finally won!

Overall, it was a fun getaway and one we will have to try to do again. We made some memories that I am sure everyone will remember for a long time. Vacations with the kids are all about spending quality time with them and this was definitely accomplished.

I promise I was there but there are no pictures of me this trip. ;)
